The 12004873 is a genuine OEM oven ignition device (also called a glow bar igniter or hot surface igniter) for GE, Hotpoint, and RCA gas ovens and ranges. This igniter is a critical component that generates the heat needed to ignite the gas burner in the oven. The igniter is a ceramic or metallic element that heats to approximately 1,700°F (927°C) when electrical current flows through it. When the oven is turned on, the igniter glows red-hot and ignites the gas as it flows from the burner valve, creating the flame that heats the oven.
