The WG04F00002 is a genuine OEM washer water inlet valve assembly used on select GE/Hotpoint washers. It’s a 2-inlet / 3-outlet solenoid valve set that controls hot/cold water flow into the dispenser/tub through electrically actuated coils. The main control board energizes the solenoids based on cycle stage (prewash/wash/rinse/softener/bleach) and water level feedback. Common failures include clogged inlet screens (low flow), stuck solenoids (no fill/overfill), internal diaphragm wear (slow leak), coil burnout (open circuit), or connector corrosion. Symptoms: washer won’t fill, fills very slowly, wrong water temperature, overfills, water continues to trickle in when off, fill errors, or poor rinse performance. IMPORTANT: Always check household water pressure and clean the inlet screens before condemning the valve. CRITICAL: Unplug washer and shut off water supply before servicing.
