5303281153 Frigidaire Dryer Rear Bearing Kit – Fix Your Dryer That Squeaks, Squeals, Scrapes, Thumps, or Makes Grinding Noises During Tumbling

5303281153 Dryer Rear Bearing Kit – The essential fix for a Frigidaire dryer that squeaks, squeals, scrapes, grinds, thumps, or makes any unusual noise during tumbling. The rear bearing is the component that supports the back of the dryer drum and allows it to spin smoothly. Every time your dryer runs, the drum rotates at approximately 40–50 RPM while holding a heavy load of wet clothes — and the rear bearing handles all of that rotational stress at the back of the drum. Over years of use, the bearing surface wears down, lubrication dries out, and metal or plastic surfaces begin making direct contact. The result is noise — starting as a faint squeak that gradually worsens into a loud squeal, scraping, or grinding sound that's impossible to ignore. Left unaddressed, a worn bearing creates excessive friction that can overheat, damage the drum shaft, score the rear bulkhead, and eventually seize — stalling the drum and potentially burning out the drive motor or snapping the belt. Other symptoms include black marks or metal shavings on clothes (from the worn bearing material), a burning smell (friction heat), the drum wobbling or sitting off-center, and the dryer taking longer to dry clothes (drum not spinning at proper speed due to drag). This genuine OEM Frigidaire bearing kit includes the bearing and retainer — everything needed to restore smooth, quiet drum rotation. Directly replaces AP2142648 and PS457250. Fits Frigidaire, Kenmore, Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, Tappan, and White-Westinghouse dryers. Moderate 45–60 minute DIY repair.

How to Test if Your Rear Bearing is Worn

The Definitive Test:

  1. Unplug the dryer
  2. Open the door and reach inside
  3. Place your hand on the back wall of the drum (center)
  4. Slowly rotate the drum by hand
  5. If you feel roughness, grinding, or hear squeaking concentrated at the center rear — it's the rear bearing

Also check: Push the drum toward the rear — if there's excessive play (drum moves back more than 1/8"), the bearing is worn.
